In this photo, Stella is the living  embodiment of my teenage Britpop/cheeky/Justine Frischmann/threesome with Brett Anderson and Jarvis Cocker(whaaaat?!?!)*/smacked-out Gucci model with too much eye makeup fantasies!!
*Of course I now realize I’d be largely ignored during such encounter, but hey. Lonely teenage girls! They can dream, right?

By popular (er, me and one other person) demand, I give you Daily Stella!
In April 1996, Karl Lagerfeld announced that he’d found a new “face” for the Chanel Fall/Winter RTW collection. Karl was enchanted by the then-newly discovered, reluctant 26-year old model Stella Tennant, who’d only done a few jobs since being shot by Steven Meisel for a “real people” story in Vogue Italia in 1993.
Karl was so eager to sign Stella to an exclusive contract that he ousted his long-time muse Claudia Schiffer from the campaign, reportedly creating a “feud” between the two models. In his classic fickle fashion, Herr Lagerfeld made his announcement with the highest praise for Stella, and a not-so-subtle dig at his former muse:

"Stella has an allure, an attitude of body which is fluid and light, which evokes beauty for the end of this century. She is different, she does not have the physical, slightly aggressive glamour that was so popular in the early 1990’s."

Maybe I should just start a feature called “Daily Stella”, since my obsession seems to be quickly re-reaching its mid-90s levels.
Stella Tenant in Glamour France, ca. 1994. I love everything about this, head to toe. Or “H to T”, as Tyra would say in a sad attempt at cultural traction via catchphrase.

Yup. This is totally where I’m at right now.
